Naming Ceremony

Traditional Naming Ceremony For African Americans

Discover your heritage in the traditional naming ceremony. This activity is designed for African-Americans visiting the areas of Kumasi, Cape Coast and Accra Ghana. Partaking in this will allow you to be given a new name, selected personally for you based on the day you are born from the Asante culture. In most cases the clan present you a weaved Kente script and present you a certificate with your name.

Ghanaian traditional naming ceremony has been performed by New Juaben Traditional Council in the Eastern part of Ghana, West Africa to grant Ashanti tribal names to sixteen (16) African-Americans from Atlanta, Georgia in the United States of America (USA) to reintegrate them into their ancestoral home
